Five of Merry Lea’s employees were honored for their years of service at Goshen College’s annual Christmas celebration. It is unusual for a third of the staff to hit employment benchmarks the same year.
Bill Minter was honored for 25 years of service as Merry Lea’s land manager. This is a level of commitment that also elicits a speech from the employee’s supervisor. Executive Director Luke Gascho reflected on Bill’s contributions and presented him with a gift certificate to musical events.
“Bill is a planner, a thinker, a scientist and an artist, and his palette is the Northern Indiana landscape,” Luke said.
Carol Good-Elliot received a decorative wooden bowl commemorating her 15 years of service as an environmental educator. Tom Hartzell, coordinator of residential undergraduate programs, received a hand-thrown mug for his five years at Merry Lea. Associate Professor Jonathon Schramm and Volunteer Coordinator Maria Tice also received mugs for five years of service.
