Autumn Hope Conference
Learning From Long Traditions
Friday, September 28, 6 p.m. to Sunday, September 30, noon
This weekend is a blend of input, worship, reflection and outdoor hikes with trained naturalists. Earth and people truly meet at our annual Autumn Hope Conference. Themes are always tied to our land base and emphasize hope and regeneration.
This year's theme, Learning From Long Traditions, will explore the relationship between people and land in diverse times and places. We'll hear from a member of the Miami Nation of Indiana; an Old Testament scholar and a world traveler who has spent over a decade in Asia, specifically East Timor, Bhutan and Thailand. Guest speakers include:
* Dr. Wilma Ann Bailey, professor of Hebrew and Aramaic scripture at Christian Theological Seminary in Indianapolis.
* Dani Tippmann, director of the Whitley County Historical Museum and a member of the Miami Nation of Indiana.
* Dr. Laura Yoder, associate professor in the Sustainability and Environmental Education Department at Merry Lea. Yoder spent over a decade in East Asia before joining the Merry Lea staff in 2011.
The fee of $115 includes five meals and all events. Saturday only: $75, two meals. Tent camping is available on site for $5 per night. Note that we do not have any indoor lodging available this year.
